AASU Breaks Ground on 569-Bed Windward Commons

Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) broke ground yesterday, June 23, 2009, for the construction of Phase 3 of their student housing, Windward Commons. Scheduled to open in the Fall of 2010, this 569-bed project will serve as a model in safe, quality and affordable Freshman Housing for AASU.

The development, requested by Armstrong Atlantic State University Educational Properties Foundation, Inc. (EPFI), in response to continued enrollment growth—now at over 7,000 students—consists of programming, design and construction. University Housing Services, Inc. (UHS, Atlanta) is the developer, and team partners consist of HADP Architecture (Atlanta); Hardin Construction Company, LLC (Atlanta); and The Pinyan Company (Savannah).

Said UHS' Executive Vice President, "We're excited to be a part of AASU's growth as a comprehensive four-year university serving Southeast Georgia and beyond and look forward to another successful student housing project with them."
